Here are a few steps you can
take right now for a carbon neutral and sustainable lifestyle.
1) Change your light bulbs to
Compact Fluorescent Lights and use
50-80% less energy than incandescents.
2) Use recycled paper products! A
tree saved is a tree we don't have to plant.
Most
recycled paper products on the market labeled "RECYCLED" contain little or no post-consumer waste(PCW) paper, only wood chips and mill scraps. These "RECYCLED" paper
products do little to address the environmental concerns of deforestation
and landfills full of potentially reusable waste paper. So choose
Paper products made with as much PCW as possible.
3) Buy locally grown produce. The farther away food travels,
the more oil has been used to get it there.
4) Stop your junk mail
by writing a letter on your post box informing the mail
person to not give you junk mail.
5) Contact retailers, financial institutions and others to request that your name be removed from their mailing lists to stop multiple catalogs, promotional offers and other unsolicited mailings. This may need to be repeated a month later.
