A Los Angeles Tree Planting With Cool Green
Deep in the Angeles Forests, Bark Beetles have destroyed the tree population. Cool Green is replanting these areas with trees that are resistant to the beetles. Many forested areas in California also have been destroyed by fires. Working with American Forests (www.americanforests.org) Cool Green is repopulating many areas. Maintaining currently forested areas is extremely important because older trees are a very effective way to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. To take local action, contact your local forestry department. Tip: Sometimes, local utility companies give trees away for free.

as a major “tipping
point,” implications from extensive temperature research are that there
will be disastrous effects, including increasingly rapid sea level rise, increased
frequency of droughts and floods, and increased stress on wildlife and plants
due to rapidly shifting climate zones. READ MORE

By Daniel Vosovic
We’re all dying and we’re bringing the planet with us. Whether
you believe that or not, there’s NO WAY you can argue that half the stuff
we do to the environment [isn't] actually bad for it: carbon dioxide emissions,
overwhelming piles of refuse, and CROCS. Ok, that last one isn’t exactly
bad for the environment, but they are ugly and they hurt my eyes, which is
never good because if I can’t see well and then I can’t recycle. READ

"Certified Organic Clothing" What
Does It Mean?
By Michael Lackman
A recent survey documents that there are still five people
(two living in Montana, one in Missouri, one in northern Maine and one in the
White House) who have not yet heard that Elle and Vanity Fair have released “green” issues
for May [2007] to celebrate and anoint sustainable, green clothing and fashion.
In many ways this marks the coming of age for sustainable clothing and the
debutante party for green fashion. READ
